The significant price drop is likely a factor of the new Boom 2 which is mostly the same speaker but with waterproofing instead of water resistance of this model. Features include 360-degree sound, a 15-hour rechargeable battery, app for firmware updates and alarm clock/wake to music functionality and the ability to be paired with an additional BOOM to create stereo sound.
